I think one should acquire some knowledge of sciences before making this decision! To me, neuroscience is a fascinating field because of the breathtaking complexity of the brain, the fact that our mental lives is really the core of who we are as people, and also that in comparison with some other fields, neuroscience is still in many ways in its infancy. That makes it an exciting area to work in.

I agree with Matthew that you do need a good understanding of all sciences to really get a grip on neuroscience. The process of doing neuroscience is quite wonderfully geeky though so a person might choose that instead of something like clinical work if they preferred working with computer programming for example.

Without having a good knowledge of sciences, it will be difficult to understand the aims and outcomes of Neuroscience. Neuroscience is a multidisciplinary science which focuses on the understanding of the nervous system; however there are different aspects from various sciences as to how this decoding can be beneficial (different approaches from Psychologists, Bio-Engineers or Biologists). I would also agree with Matthew, Neuroscience is in its infancy phase – there’s still more work that needs to be done. To give you some food for thought, imagine that there are still brain areas that we are not sure how they contribute to our cognitive architecture.
