      The sound areas of the brain are connected to the movement areas, and we are using these links to try to work around the problem associated with Parkinson’s. If you have Parkinson’s, a tiny area in your brain, called the substantia nigra stops producing dopamine, which is a neurotransmitter that your brain needs for timing movements. But the brain is really clever and other areas can take over some of that work, especially in the early stages of the disease. So, my research is about trying to find ways to strengthen to sound and movement links using music.
